Since its inception in 2008, Perthfurs.net has provided a platform for members of the Western Australian furry community to get to know each other, communicate and express themselves freely, share content and organise events - under the protection of a community-driven vouch system designed to keep users safe.

A lot has changed in the last 10 years, however. The rise of smartphones, apps and social media has shaped our online behaviour - we now spend more of our time on a smaller number of services. Specialty websites like this one are no longer at the front of people's minds, and much of what this site was designed to do is now being fulfilled by Facebook, Telegram, Twitter and other more convenient services.

Indeed, use of Perthfurs.net has declined rapidly during the last 5 years, to the point where we no longer see enough engagement for the vouch system to work properly, and indeed to justify keeping the site running.

It has been a pleasure to serve the local furry community, and we look forward to staying in touch via other platforms going forward.
